Interview conducted by Jessie L. Embry as part of the LDS German-Speaking Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western studies at Brigham Young University. Duersch's mother came from Switzerland and his father came from Germany. Duersch talks about growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, serving on a mission for the Mormon Church in Germany when Adolf Hitler was in power, moving to Logan, and attending the German-speaking Logan 10th Ward of the Mormon Church.
